Inspirational Sacred Text: John 16:5
As members of the human race, we are by design driven to find some meaning and purpose to our lives, and what could be more meaningful than truth?
And it is true, with truth as our guide we have a direction a path to follow.
The message today is clear and simple. God has given us all the gift of life, and that is in itself a truth.
The other truth is that God has provided us all with a spiritual compass to help us navigate our way through our lives journey and to do it in such a way that we might express to others who we are as spiritual beings.
Additionally, this path ultimately leads us back to the source of our creation, as was intended by the creator.
As receivers of this gift, we can show our gratitude to the giver of life, by living a truth filled life.
The gift of life is our instrument, and the gift of truth is our song, our duty is to sing it, or as St. John Coltrane would say, “To live it, when you play it there’s no problem because the music is a part of the whole thing. To be a musician is something, it goes very deep. My music is the spiritual expression of who I am, my faith, my knowledge, my being.”
One of my heroes—Bruce Lee once said this about water. "Water is without form, but, when you pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot."
So isn’t it interesting… the Earth—which is another gift to us from God, is made up of over seventy percent water. Water is also a metaphor for truth, and it is also life. The waters of this Earth give life, sustains life, and as a gift has taken on many forms on this planet that all living things may receive.
If we can imagine even for a moment ourselves being as Bruce would say water, and knowing that water is life and is the holder of life, and thus is for us a manifestation of the spirit.
And as spirit having been poured into this body making us 90% water, and we are made in the likeness of God; thus we become a heavenly form on Earth.
The epistle today tells us that we were begotten with the word of truth and that truth—like the bodies of water that cover the majority of the Earth exist with great purpose for the fulfillment of God’s will to be done in and through our lives.
Beloved as we enter into the realization that we are life – spirit – truth
Let us become the pond that brings life to the small fish that dwells within it.
Let us become the river that flows with life-giving fluid to sustain the village.
Let us become the mighty ocean that provides food for the soul, and cleanses away the filthiness of unrighteousness, injustice, and all that is not like God.
Let us become the sea of life that bring sustenance to the people of this world.
Let us be like the waters of this Earth, and cover the globe with truth, which is the word of God, as it is expressed through our being.
Let us cover the globe with Love, which is supreme, even as God is Love.
Let us like the rivers find our way back to the ocean and take on the form of a servant.
